Three household names — Phrozen, Creality and Bambu Lab — have landed close together, and each launch tells a slightly different story about where desktop fabrication is heading as 2026 closes out. Phrozen stretches resin "big" AND "fine"

On September 4 Phrozen launched the Sonic Mighty Revo MAX 16K, a large-format monochrome LCD printer. Its 14-inch, 16K panel fits a 302 × 162 × 300 mm build space and holds detail near ~20 µm across the whole plate — a combination that was rarely available before. The pitch is aimed squarely at advanced makers, small studios and printing services that want one machine for both size and fidelity.

Why the details matter for reliability

Bambu Lab separates its laser from the printer

Bambu Lab sold laser modules as add-ons to its multi-function machines for a while. Now it is teasing the R1, a dedicated standalone laser engraver and cutter expected in September, promoted with the tagline "a new ray of making". A separate desktop laser changes the economics for users who cut and engrave more than they print — they no longer need a whole multi-function printer to drive a laser head, and the R1 gets an enclosure and airflow designed purely for laser work instead of sharing with a hotend.
