Every FDM maker has watched a supposedly "fine" overhang turn into a sagging, stringy cliff. The cure is rarely a better printer — it is usually cooler plastic arriving at the right spot. This guide explains how slicer cooling, angle limits and a little flow headroom combine into clean, printable geometry, and how the right hotend accessory can widen your margin.
First, Respect Angles in the Slicer
Overhangs that lean too far outward are the enemy. A good rule of thumb is to keep most overhangs at or under about 45° unless your printer and fan are excellent. In the slicer you can also enable supports above a set threshold, or reorient the model so steep faces ride at a flatter angle. Geometry first, printer heroics second.
Bridging Is a Cooling Problem
A bridge is plastic stretched across a gap. It works only if the extruded strand chills fast enough to stay level between the two anchor points. The tool you are looking for lives under the bridging settings: raise bridge fan speed, and look for a bridge flow that keeps strands tight without droop.
