Resin Printing Isn't Magic — But It Should Be Reliable
Resin 3D printing offers unmatched detail and surface finish, but even experienced users encounter failures. Understanding the root causes separates frustrating sessions from consistent results. This guide covers the most common resin printing issues and their solutions.
Common Resin Printing Failures & Fixes
1. Print Won't Stick to the Build Plate
Symptoms: The print cures on the FEP film but never attaches to the build plate.
| Cause | Solution |
|---|---|
| Build plate not level | Re-level the build plate |
| Bottom exposure too low | Increase bottom exposure by 10-20 seconds |
| First layer Z-offset too high | Zero Z-axis with paper test |
| Old or contaminated resin | Use fresh ANTINSKY Standard Resin |
| Smooth build plate | Lightly sand with 220-grit sandpaper |
2. Supports Fail Mid-Print
Symptoms: Parts have missing sections or dangling cured strings.
- Under-supported: Add more supports in slicer
- Lift speed too fast: Reduce to 40-60 mm/min
- Exposure too low: Increase by 0.5-1s
- Cold resin: Keep at 20-25°C. Use ANTINSKY HeatMixer-HM100
3. Layer Shifting or Banding
| Cause | Solution |
|---|---|
| Z-axis screw contamination | Clean and lubricate |
| Screen/LCD damage | Run screen test; replace if needed |
| Loose build plate screws | Tighten all bolts |
4. Milky or Blurry Surface
- Over-exposure: Reduce by 0.3-0.5s
- Unmixed resin: Shake ANTINSKY Standard Lite Resin thoroughly
- Dirty FEP: Clean with isopropyl alcohol
- Insufficient wash: Minimum 3 minutes in IPA
5. Cupping Effect (Suction Force)
Symptoms: Hollow parts warp or distort.
Solution: Add drain holes — at least 2 per hollow model.
Best Practices for Consistent Resin Printing
Environment Control
- Temperature: 20-25°C (68-77°F)
- Humidity: Below 60% RH
- Avoid drafts and direct sunlight
Use Quality Resin
ANTINSKY resins are manufactured under strict quality control. From fast-printing Standard Lite to tough Standard Tough — there's an ANTINSKY formulation for every application.
Maintain Your Release Film
Replace your ACF or nFEP film every 3-6 months. Clean between prints with alcohol.
