Printing with Flexible TPU Filament

TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) produces rubber-like parts. Here's how to master it.

TPU Properties

  • Shore Hardness: Typically 85A-98A
  • Elongation: Can stretch 300-600% before breaking
  • Abrasion Resistance: Outstanding

Printing Settings

  • Nozzle: 210-240°C | Bed: 40-60°C
  • Speed: 15-30mm/s (slow is key!)
  • Retraction: Disable or reduce to minimum
  • Direct Drive: Strongly recommended over Bowden

Design Tips

  • Avoid sharp corners — use fillets and chamfers
  • Design with variable wall thickness for controlled flexibility
  • Increase flow by 5-10% to prevent under-extrusion
