When to Replace Your Nozzle
- Visible wear or an enlarged bore after printing abrasive filaments
- Consistent under-extrusion even after calibration
- Rough or inconsistent surface finish
Brass nozzles wear quickly with carbon-fiber, glow-in-the-dark and metal-filled filaments. Switch to hardened steel or tungsten carbide for abrasive materials.

How to Swap Safely
Heat the hotend to printing temperature before removing the nozzle - this softens any residual filament. Hold the heater block with a wrench, then unscrew the nozzle. Install the new one snug but not over-tight, and re-level the bed after the swap.
Match It to the Filament
A good hotend upgrade is wasted on the wrong filament. Pair a fresh nozzle with a quality filament to get clean extrusion and consistent results from the first layer to the last.
