Printing Is Only Half the Job
A resin print straight off the build plate is still covered in uncured resin. Skipping or rushing post-processing is the fastest way to ruin a good print. Here's the correct wash, dry and cure workflow, step by step.
Wash Thoroughly
Remove excess resin with isopropyl alcohol (or a dedicated wash station). Agitate the part for several minutes - a static soak is not enough. For hollow parts with drain holes, flush the inside so no liquid resin is trapped.
- Use 90%+ IPA or a water-washable resin's specified cleaner
- Agitate, don't just soak
- Flush hollow cavities completely
Dry Completely
Let the part dry fully before curing. Curing while the surface is still wet with solvent leaves a chalky white residue known as bloom. Air-dry or use compressed air, and check that no solvent remains in crevices.
Cure Evenly
| Method | Typical Time | Note |
|---|---|---|
| UV cure station | 2-5 min | Rotate for even exposure |
| Sunlight | 30-60 min | Less consistent |
Over-curing makes parts brittle and yellow. Cure just until the surface is tack-free and hard, then stop.
Start With a Good Resin
Post-processing can't fix a poor material. A consistent resin cures predictably, so your wash and cure times stay stable from batch to batch.
