Resin Washing and UV Curing Masterclass: Complete Post-Processing Guide for LCD/MSLA Prints

ANTINSKY Standard Lite Resin 1kg

The Final 50%: Why Washing and Curing Matter as Much as Printing

Most beginners think a successful resin print ends when the build plate lifts from the vat. In reality, washing and curing account for roughly half the work — and half the failure points. This guide covers the complete post-processing pipeline.

Step 1: Removing the Print

  • Use a plastic scraper to avoid scratching the build plate
  • For stubborn prints, soak in warm water (40–50°C) for 2–3 minutes
  • Wear nitrile gloves — uncured resin is a skin irritant

Step 2: Washing

Method Solvent Time Pros Cons
IPA ≥95% IPA 3–5 min Fast evaporation Flammable, cost
Water Wash Water + detergent 5–10 min Non-toxic Water-washable resin only
Ultrasonic IPA or water 2–3 min Deep clean May damage thin supports

Pro tip: Use two-stage washing — dirty rinse first, then clean rinse. This extends solvent life significantly.

Step 3: Drying

  • Air-dry 10–15 minutes after washing
  • Use compressed air for internal cavities
  • Never cure a wet print — trapped solvent causes clouding

Step 4: Removing Supports

  • Cut supports before full curing — green-state resin is softer
  • Use flush cutters for thick supports, X-Acto knife for fine connections

Step 5: UV Curing

Parameter Small (<5cm) Medium (5–15cm) Large (>15cm)
Time (405nm) 3–5 min 6–10 min 10–15 min
Rotation Halfway Continuous Continuous

Common Mistakes

  • White residue — Not fully dried. Use compressed air.
  • Sticky surface — Under-washed. Rewash and re-cure.
  • Yellowing — Use UV-resistant clear coat for display pieces.
  • Brittle parts — Over-cured. Reduce curing time.
